Gigabyte Z790 EAGLE AX is a motherboard in the ATX form factor, based on the Intel Z790 chipset, with an LGA1700 socket. Intel Core processors of the 12th, 13th and 14th generations, as well as Pentium Gold and Celeron, are supported.

Four DIMM slots are designed for DDR5 memory: the maximum capacity is 256 GB, and the frequency is up to 5600 MT/s with 13th and 14th generation Core i9/i7 processors and up to 4800 MT/s with other processors. For storage drives, there are three M.2 slots (PCIe 4.0 x4/x2, one of which also works with SATA) and four SATA III ports. PCIe x16 slots: one PCIe 5.0 x16, one PCIe 4.0 x16 (x4 mode) and one PCIe 3.0 x16 (x1 mode).

Wireless connectivity is Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3, and the wired network is 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet on a Realtek controller. Video outputs are HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.2.
