Samsung 990 EVO is a solid-state drive with a capacity of 2 TB in M.2 2280 format. Connects via the PCIe 4.0 x4 or 5.0 x2 interface and uses the NVMe 2.0 protocol.

Sequential read speed is up to 5000 MB/s, sequential write speed is up to 4200 MB/s; random read is up to 700000 operations per second (IOPS), random write is up to 800000 IOPS. The drive uses Samsung V-NAND TLC memory and Samsung's own controller. There is no DRAM cache: HMB (Host Memory Buffer) technology is used, which makes use of part of the computer's RAM.

The rated write endurance is 1200 TB (TBW), and the mean time between failures (MTBF) is 1.5 million hours. Installation requires an M.2 slot with NVMe support — the drive does not fit connectors that work with SATA only.
